What an exciting time for us!! We have begun 2009 looking forward to more growth and progress. Every year brings new awareness, fresh and innovative ideas, enhancements, different philosophies, new members and sponsors.

Our new Administration has already shown commitment to excellence and a willingness to give more to the community. Our focus will be to make sure we add value to society as a whole. This will include narrowing the gap associated with the digital divide that exists in our community by educating those that have not been given the opportunity to learn and become skilled in the areas of Information Technology and Business.

We invite you on the journey as a member to do something worthwhile that will have an impact on many lives.

“With Your Help, We Can Make IT Happen.”

Warmest Regards,

Rhonda L. Boyd, BDPA Chicago Chapter President

How Can Social Networking Help BDPA?

Social Networking is a hot topic today. There are so many channels to communicate our thoughts, opinions and facts. Facebook, Linked In, MySpace, Blogs, Wikis and many others have changed the way we interact. Will social networking change BDPA? If so, how? What should we do?

Are We Responsible or is Someone Else?

What is our responsibility to society as IT Professionals? Are we supposed to help educate the youth and share our knowledge? Should the educators be solely responsible and held accountable? Is there a role for the family to play in the success of each member?

We have a major responsibility to support our youth and help motivate IT Professionals to keep moving forward and improve the skills needed to survive in todays market. While there are jobs available for us, do we meet the requirements to secure the new assignments? If not, how do we get there?

What do you think?
